Parts of balls!

The beautiful Henri is a regular at her local cafe. Accomanying her dad, Ned, Henri can be found hustling for cuddles, treats or even a sip of your coffee. I instantly feel in love with Henri’s sweet nature, as did my pup Remy, and they have been wonderful friends since.

Both Henri and Ned were super excited to share her cafe adventures with Roam & Wander, even putting together a little bio together on Henri’s short yet super fun life thus far which you can read below.

Krystal & Jake

Dachshunds

Krystal Loves:

Cheese

Rolling on her back on the carpet

Sleeping in the sun

Jake Loves:

Kisses

All food

Climbing the couch like a mountain goat

Krystal&Jake_057.jpg

Krystal and Jake are inseperable, it was love at first sight as it was for their parents. Krystal’s mum, Karolina and Jake’s dad, Geoffrey, met via an online dating site. Geoff, holding Jake by his side in his profile picture, instantly grabbed dachshund obsessed Karolina’s attention. She was never going to be able to resist a handsome man with a daschy as cute as Jake and as they say, the rest is history! Krystal and Jake soon became siblings and haven’t spent a day without each other since.

Krystal is very protective of Jakey and they love kissing each other daily. They were both rescued and they are so lucky to have such an amazing bond with one another.

Miss Evita

Runt of the litter

Loves:

Not much!

Sleeping in small boxes

Hissing at her humans

Evita (7)-2.jpg

Where do I start when talking about my Miss Evita! The runt of the litter, she is small in stature but fierce. As a senior kitty-zen, Miss Evita loves to sleep in any small, uncomfortable discarded box she can find, snoozing her days away. Miss Evita dislikes, well, everyone, and takes pleasure in letting her humans know. If she had to chose, my mother would be her favourite human, probably because she wears pants with cats on them (see photos).

Barkly Barks

Barkly Square, Brunswick was the place to be today for all the cool hipster pups of Melbourne. Barkly Barks, the annual canine carnival transformed Our Laneway and was packed to the brim with excited pups, big and small. There were costumes, parades and wagging tails galore everywhere you turned. Here are a few of the happy pups enjoying today’s festivities.

Bardot & Truffle

French Bulldogs

Bardot Loves:

Loves balls
Loves adventures and walks
Loves to cuddle on the couch and be wrapped up in a blanket

Truffle Loves:

Loves food!
Loves to play fetch and actually returns the ball unlike Bardot who hogs it
Loves to follow us around and lay on us

Bardot&Truffle_129.jpg
Bardot&Truffle_131.jpg

“Bardot is so patient and sweet natured, she took to Truffle like a real mum figure. She puts up with all of Truffle’s puppy antics! Every time someone visits us at home Bardot always brings a toy to them and if she can’t find a toy she madly runs and finds a sock or anything, even one of Kensi’s (our daughter) toys! She absolutely loves our daughter and we love having her around. When we first brought Kensi home from hospital, Bardot instantly new to protect her baby sister and was very loving and gentle!

Truffle is full of beans, a true puppy and she’s got so much love for Bardot. They sleep together every night and even though we put out 2 beds they’re always cuddling together. She loves to wrestle and play tug of war with Bardot. It’s been a love hate relationship with Truffle and Kensi, she’s really the baby in the family and if she’s not stealing Kensi’s toys she’s waiting at her high chair for any food to fall! But then other days they are playing fetch together and Kensi is smothering her with cuddles on the couch, referring to her as “Baby Truffle”. We absolutely love the breed and are so happy that the dogs have each other to keep one another company. They are the perfect Ying and Yang pair.”

Being a frenchie mum myself, I know how hyper crazy this breed can be. Bardot and little sister Truffle were no exception! From the minute I walked in until only moments before I left, these girls were at it non stop. They even made a toddler seem chilled! No two dogs have ever been more excited to greet me when I arrived and the feeling was mutual. Photographing them with their humans in the comfort of their new home, it was so lovely to see the connection between the pups and their human sister Kensi, who made it known they were ‘her puppies’.

Gypsy

Part Beagle / Part Mystery

Loves:

Playing with her boyfriend Astro

Eating bones (or anything really)

Being cuddled

Gypsy004.jpg

In 2015 I was searching high and low for the perfect dog for me and my partner. But we just couldn't agree on one we liked. After weeks of searching, we came across a picture of the cutest ginger pup on the North Melbourne Lost Dogs home adoption page. And for once, we agreed! It wasn't until later that I realised she had the same name as my beautiful 14 month old niece who had died in a tragic accident 3 years prior. Pip! So as soon as the center opened I rang and asked them if I could come and see her before they adopted her out to anyone else. Thankfully they agreed, but only until 2pm. I managed to get there just in time, only to have her beautiful little face be the first smiley happy dog to greet me as I walked in. She was meant to be. She's my first baby and her name is now Gypsy. Gyp!

I arrived in Gisborne early on a Sunday morning to photograph Gypsy and her humans on a crisp Autumn day. Gypsy’s mum, Bella, grew up in the beautiful hills of Gisborne and it provided the perfect backdrop to photograph the family of five. We made our way from their house down towards the bush land below. Gypsy, in her element, chased rabbits and helped herself to a dip in a muddy damn, while her sister Annabelle stayed close by her side.
